I am part of the online gaming community. Unlike most people I am not a WoW gamer. Guild Wars is the game I chose. It is a lot of fun and I do not have to pay monthly fees. Thus I can play whenever I find time. Paying oince for the game has been the only investment I had to make which is just around 40 $.

Right now I own Factions, Prophecies and the addon Eye of the North. In a couple of months I am going to get me the last part: Night Fall and the brand new Mission Bonus Pack...of course ;-)

My Book ! ! !

It is been a while since I had to write my thesis. Now my thesis will be published as a book! So by now I can call me writer ;-) The book will be made available in National Library (of German of course) because they have to :-) It will take some time until the book is available at Amazon.

I wrote the thesis at IBM with Matthias. It is nice to see that all the time and effort leads to a book. We will not get rich by having written this book. But it is nice to not only write such a paper just for the university archives and a piece of paper stating "Diploma". Maybe someone buys it and he or she can gain some knowledge. Sweetness!

So what is the book about? It is technical, for business people and computer scientists. It is about BPEL and BPEL4WS respectively, about business process automation, performance and capacity planing. That would be the content of the book in a nutshell.

Business Process Automation - Performance and Capacity Planning with BPEL

The "Performance and Capacity Planning Method for BPEL4WS-based Business Process Automation" refers to the ability to predict resource consumption of a defined set of business processes automatically executed on an IT server system. A prediction model integrates all factors that influence a resource consumption prediction into a single tool. On the basis of a prediction model an accurate hardware configuration can be proposed which is able to run the defined set of business processes with the required throughput.

This book gives a complete overview of how to develop, verify, and apply a performance and capacity planning method for BPEL-based processes in general. In particular, the performance and capacity planning method is established for BPEL-basedbusiness processes on IBM WebSphere software. I am in New Jersey these days and already had the chance to go to New York City for sight seeing and massive shopping :-) So take a loook at the photos I have put up in the gallery.

I am on vacation :-)

Good news: I am on vacation for the next 4 week! So no news until June. 

Guestbook temporarily not available

I have removed the guestbook from site due to the fact that I will be on vacation for the next 4 weeks and cannot remove the spam entries. The guestbook will be available again when I am back from my trip through the US. Up to now I did not find the time to install a proper anti-spam tool for my guestbook thus deactivating the guestbook is the best solution for my at the moment.

Teaser: When I am back from my trip there will be a huge photo update on my gallery page.

Andy`s Updates

It is been a while since I wrote a posting on my website...especially an english one. But now: Here it is! :-)

Some of you may have noticed that I have two new galleries in my picture gallery. Ele and I have been in Phantasialand, some kind of theme park like six flags. I recommed this park even though you cannot compare it to the Europa Park which is the biggest theme park in Germany (with the highest rollercoaster in Europe). The second gallery has some nice pictures of my trip to the Cannstatter Wasen which is the second largest beer fest. The largest is the one in Munich.

Most of you know that I am no writer (might be computer scientist desease). That is why I am more into a photography/graphics and why I always find something new for my website. At the moment I am into web2.0 stuff like AJAX. So I built in some new features: validation in the guestbook and the contact form. The new features are implemented in JavaScript but they are unobtrusive, thus the site will still work if you switched off Javascript in your browser.

So good news, my guestbook can be used again! :-) I have also put in a new filter for spam protection. The algorithm is not finished yet but I guess after this new english posting I will get a lot of spam again which can be analyzed to improve my filters.

Hopefully I will find the time to add the filter and the validation to my comment form so I can activate them again.

Got Spam?

Due to the massive spamming of my guestbook I deactivated the possibility of submitting a website. Hopefully the spamming stops now. I also have installed filtern which prohibt urls. Thus this ******* spam ends...hopefully.

The comments on postings will be activated again as soon as I applied all the filtering to these comments.

[UPDATE]: Due to a spamming attack (>80 postings) I had to diasble the guestbook. :-( 

Site Update!

The site has got some more updates/upgrade. I needed to fix the design due to a new menu item in the navigation bar which caused some errors. The new menu item is the tag cloud displaying my tags used at del.icio.us to categorize my bookmarks. Also new is the integration of the del.icio.us icon in the upper right corner of the page so you can directly bookmark my site at del.icio.us.

New design

Since I moved to Frankfurt and started on my job, I thought my life changes and my website needs to reflect this change. A new chapter of life starts. The design is somehow graffiti-like and inspired by the website design of the Need for Speed Most Wanted website. It should never be a dumb copy. I tried to give the design an individual character. I am not really satisfied with the result. We will see what changes over time.

The theme is named "Tagging the internet" inspired by the term tagging (graffiti) and the web(del.icio.us - categorizing weblink using several tags

). I hope you like it. Any comment(s) are appreciated!

New Server and Siteupdates

It is done! Since the end of December 2005 my sites are hosted on a news server. The new server has a lot more power and I got rid of Confixx which always caused problems. Andy-scherzinger.de and my other sites have been completely migrated to the new server and all areas work fine. Some areas like the gallery had to be modified to work properly in the new server environment.
These modification gave the reason to add some new features to this site: comments for news postings, date for postings in my guestbook and RSS2 Feeds for the news.

I want to thank Matthias who implemented most of the new functionality which I used after some modification and Thomes for the perfect migration to the new server. At the moment I am building and designing the hosting site of this new server: Sout - Hosting Solutions. It is based on WordPress 2 an open source blog/CMS application plus some minor modifications. I also did the logo. Later on the site will have a FAQ which answer most of the questions/problems of the users of this server, like for example how to import certificates. Furthermore it provides links to the available funktionality like webmail powered by Squirrelmail and DBAdmin powered by phpMyAdmin. Both applicationens will get a design complementing the design of the website of sout.de.
